Affordable Homes Open Day 2009

Brent's Affordable Homes Open Day 2009 took place on 11 June, 1-7pm.

Over 400 people defied the tube strike which was taking place at the time to come to Brent Town Hall to find out more about affordable home ownership and rent opportunities in Brent.

There were a range of housing associations, financial advisers, solicitors and council officers in attendance, all available for one-on-one discussions with members of the public, and keen to answer their questions.

Visitors were able to take home a variety of brochures, leaflets and magazines - including Brent's new affordable home ownership magazine, Your Own Brent Home.

There were also chocolate treats for the children (and adults alike!), and one lucky visitor, Muzamiru Katurze from Brent, won an iPod in a prize draw taken from housing surveys collected from visitors.

When the open day ended, all the attendees, from Councillor James Allie (lead member for housing in the borough), to the many first time buyers and key workers who had come to assess their housing options, went home agreeing that it was a useful and fun day out.
