A ceremony dedicated to the remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust that marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1945 and other genocides that have taken place across the world. Events include speakers, candle lighting and an exhibition focused on the Holocaust Trust theme for 2009 Stand Up To Hatred.
Brent's Wall of Resistance
We would like Brent's community to help with this project and invite adults and young people to create artwork on postcard size paper/card (template provided with Wall of Resistance worksheet (.pdf, 185Kb)) that explores the Holocaust Trust national theme for 2009 'Stand up to Hatred'.
Your artwork will then be added with all other entries to create Brent's Wall of Resistance, which will be displayed at the Conflict and Resolution exhibition at Brent Artists' Resource Gallery (BAR Gallery) and at Brent Holocaust Memorial Day 2009 ceremony on Sunday 25 January.
We would like to encourage people to focus on the community of Brent when thinking about acts of hatred. Please refer to the Wall of Resistance worksheet (.pdf, 185Kb) for further information.
All entries must include Name, Address, contact number and age the back of the postcard. All entries will need to be sent to Brent House (at the above address) by Friday 9th January. One winning entry will be chosen from each of the two catergories (under 18 and 18 ). The winners will be invited to receive a prize presented by the worshipful Mayor of Brent and Chair of BHMD steering committee on Sunday 25 January at Brent Town Hall.
