Harlesden Ward

The project developed with the following aims and objectives in mind, to:
The artist Mat hand worked with pupils from nearby Harley Road Primary School to generate photographic images for use in the work. The children's images for the final piece of work were selected based on their suitability to be turned into larger scale paintings. Twenty-three images were created for display along the wall and were interspersed with the text good and bad.
The text was used to investigate the simplistic way in which we and society judge and categorise children as either 'good' or 'bad' and the inherent long-term dangers that such stereotyping poses for communities and the children in question. The black and white aesthetic reflected the ideas encapsulated in the work as well as providing striking visual effect.
This project is now complete but if you are interested in getting involved in similar work please check our factsheets or contact us.
