Word Up! A celebration of books and reading 2011 replaces the 2010 Black History Month programme.
Brent Black History Month was a fun, friendly, family festival that celebrated black history and culture in all Brent libraries, Brent Museum and Brent Archives in the month of October.
Highlights of the Black History 2010 programme included:
Alex Pascall, broadcaster and media personality in conversation with former England football star Luther Blissett
readings by Precious Williams, author of Precious: A True Story, and Monique Roffey, author of The White Woman on the Green Bicycle
talks on Bob Marley and World War One officer Walter Tull
appearances by writer, comedian, actor and The Real McCoy star Felix Dexter and Malcolm Frederick, of '80s comedy No Problem.
