Disability Statement

BACES aims to provide an environment which supports improved access to learning for individuals with disabilities. We welcome everyone to come and take part in the learning opportunities.

Range of courses offered
BACES offer a diverse range of courses specifically designed for students with Learning Difficulties. Course areas include Art & Crafts, Photography & Video, Towards independence, Building employability skills and Routes to work. In addition, Café and Gardening projects are run in partnership with Brent Social Services to provide work-based training.

BACES is committed to providing high quality learning opportunities for adults living and working within Brent. Courses for students with learning difficulties offer a range of subjects delivered at entry level, specifically staffed and resourced to enable students to fulfil their maximum potential. The Service promotes and supports inclusion across the programme. Choose from a wide range of subjects, from creative subjects like Art & Crafts or Drama, to more vocational programmes such as routes to Work or the Gardening and Café projects.

Accreditation offered
During the academic year, BACES will be offering ASDAN accreditations across the programme.

Progression opportunities
There are three main routes of progression for learners studying on these courses:

Progression within BACES programme: development within the scope of BACES provision, both in the DLD area, and in the mainstream programme.
External progression: Accessing other educational provision outside of BACES
Work experience/ Employment: Development of opportunities provided by work experience placements through BACES / Social Services.

Any special entry requirements
Learners will have an initial assessment on entry, which will ensure that individuals will gain access to courses in the right subjects at the right levels. Any special student requirements should be discussed during the initial assessment process.

BACES is continually working on improving facilities and accessibility to enable access to education for all learners but our sites vary. Please refer to the site details, or, if you want more in depth information ask for a copy of our disability statement or contact Debora Pierre (see contact details below).
