2012 Olympics in Brent

Our plan for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. An introduction by Cllr Alan Mendoza
As Brent's Lead Member for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, I am delighted to introduce Brent Council's Action Plan for the 2012 Games.

Cllr Alan Mendoza, Lead Member for the Olympic GamesThis exciting action plan has been developed by Brent Council's Steering Group for the 2012 Games and will be further enhanced over the next four years.

The council has worked actively to welcome the Olympic and Paralympic Games back to London, particularly as the borough previously hosted the Games in 1948.

The council is determined to secure the maximum benefit and a lasting legacy from the Games for residents, local businesses and our young people.

A great deal has already been achieved in Brent and as a previous host borough, we are proud to welcome back the London Games.

An exciting programme of events and sports activities is planned, alongside proposals that will also benefit our young people and businesses - all of which will be delivered working with our partners and stakeholders in Brent.

I hope that Brent's residents, their families and our local businesses will take advantage of and benefit from the many sporting and cultural activities being organised and get involved - not just as spectators but as participants.

Cllr Alan Mendoza
