Age Concern Brent

Age Concern Brent is a voluntary organisation supporting the needs and interests of older people within the London Borough of Brent.

 

Age Concern Brent's mission is to promote the well being of all older people in Brent and to ensure that later life is a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

 

They aim to assist the health, independence and well being of all older people in Brent by:

 

  • providing services that help older people to maintain their independence
  • campaigning with older people to ensure that their views and needs are heard at all levels of decision-making and the wider public
  • innovating and undertaking research to identify new and unmet needs
  • working in partnership with voluntary and community organisations and statutory agencies in Brent to influence policies and services for older people and their carers.

 

Age Concern Brent offer a range of services and projects to inform, advise and inspire older residents in the Borough.  They include information, advice, advocacy, befriending services, telephone befriending, computer training and keep fit classes.


BANG Edutainment

BANG Edutainment was established in 1999 by a dynamic team of social entrepreneurs whose aim was to provide younger people with skills to unlock their potential and develop careers in creative and related industries.

 

Since then BANG-ed has developed as an innovative social enterprise providing learning opportunities through a number of accredited training programmes. BANG-ed's aims include:

 

  • promoting and deliver training programmes in creative industries and life skills
  • providing facilities and means by which people can develop their creative interests and use these in career development
  • contributing to local training, employment and regeneration policies and strategies through effective partnerships with public, voluntary  and private agencies
  • becoming a financially sustainable organisation with gradually decreasing dependency on grant funding.

 

BANG-ed offers both accredited and non-accredited training in DJ Skills and Life Skills.

 

BANG-ed is also an expert in community radio and has established four community radio projects in London. In Stonebridge they operate Life FM which is one of 107 community radio stations awarded a 5 year FM licence by Ofcom.
