Nursery school admissions

For nursery aged children there are various, flexible options available to help increase the availability of care, as well as meet the demands of working parents.

Children living in Brent are entitled to nursery places, usually part-time, from the term following their third birthday.

These places can be taken in:

  • a nursery class in a primary school or in a nursery school - This will normally be a part-time place. For details of nursery provision and the application process see Brent Council's primary school guide 2010 (.pdf, 6043Kb).

  • a private/voluntary day nursery or pre-school group - Funding is provided to cover the cost of a part-time place and parents have the option to additionally fund extra hours themselves.

Brent has 54 primary schools, with nursery classes available at each except for Byron Court, Islamia and Mount Stewart Infants.

There are also four stand alone community nursery schools not attached to primary schools. These are College Green Nursery School, Curzon Crescent Children's Centre, Fawood Children's Centre and Granville Plus Children's Centre.

Children and Families Information Service (CFIS)

Brent's Children and Families Information Service (CFIS) holds information on all types of under-fives provision, including children's centres.

For further details on nursery classes in primary schools, visit their Nursery Education Grant page.
