As a community education service, Brent Adult and Community Education Service (BACES) tries to meet the learning needs of all adults in every part of Brent.

BACES offers a range of courses aimed at all kinds of learners - people wishing to brush up their skills, people wanting to come back to learning after a break, those who want to improve their reading, writing, English or maths - and those who just enjoy learning.

Our wide-ranging courses cover the following topics:

Creative classes in crafts, art and floristry as well as functional courses like vehicle maintenance.

Includes classes in hairdressing, health and lifestyles, Henna skin decoration and Asian bridal makeovers.

Classes for the office environment including book-keeping, payroll and business law.

Comprehensive classes covering creative skills, employability and independent living for adults with learning difficulties.

Free classes teaching parents and children how to learn together about language, health, reading and more.

A hugely varied course programme covering sport from aerobics to Yoga, cooking skills and travel and tourism.

Gain valuable skills in counselling, drug awareness, working with children and health-based employability.

Computing courses for beginners and intermediate learners, as well as Photoshop classes.

Classes in French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic and Mandarin as well as creative writing and British Sign Language courses.

Includes Latin American, Caribbean, disco and salsa dance classes, as well as music courses in guitar-playing, keyboards and singing.

Covering English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) and basic literacy and numeracy. Includes English classes for all levels as well as Maths and English GCSE and pre-GCSE.

We run classes in around 60 sites across the borough, so you shouldn't have to travel far to find a class.

We run classes in the evenings and at weekends as well as during the day, so you should be able to find a class at a time that suits you.

BACES publishes a prospectus each June which tells people about the subjects on offer and the venues we operate from. Many courses have creche facilities to enable people with young children to attend classes. We now offer courses over the full week including Saturday.
