Parenting support

Brent Parenting Support makes mothers, fathers and carers aware of the information and advice available to them.

Parenting can be a rewarding experience, but there is no perfect method. We want parents and carers to feel confident in asking for support from a range of appropriate services to reflect their needs.

We also aim to assure parents that seeking this assistance is a positive step, and will ultimately improve outcomes for children and young people in the borough.

Our 'Supporting Parents, Supporting Children' handbook will be available by April 2010 and will contain information and advice on a range of family and parenting issues that can help you make informed decisions.

It is split into three age ranges:

  • from early days of pregnancy - 4 years
  • 5-10 years and
  • 11-19 years

A hard copy of the handbook will be made available through local schools, children's centres and GPs.

Your views on parenting

Brent Children's Partnership is currently developing a plan towards offering all parents a 'Five Star Parenting Core Offer'.

The attached consultation document asks you, as parents:

  • what you think of the parenting offer
  • what you would like to see in terms of parenting services
  • whether you would like to have your say about current parenting services you receive.

The consultation has now finished, but you can still view the 'offer'. The results of the consultation will be published here soon.
