School governors

The Governor Support team is a part of the Children and Families department and is committed to providing advice, guidance and support to the governors and clerks of Brent governing bodies. 
 

Every school and children's centre has a governing body of between nine and 20 governors.

Our service provides:

• training courses for governors
• a termly director's report and newsletter 
• regular updates via the Governance e-newsletter
• an annual conference
• telephone, email and written advice, guidance and support
• support for governor recruitment
• guidance on basic roles and expectations
• an induction pack for new governors
• a clerking service
• support for governing bodies with particular challenges.
