Paying for childcare

There are number of options available to assist parents with childcare costs.

Nursery Education Grant

You can get the Nursery Education Grant (NEG) at most Brent private and voluntary nurseries from the beginning of the term after your child's third birthday if your child was born:

• on or before 31 August for the autumn term
• on or before 31 December for the spring term
• on or before 31 March for the summer term.

Working tax credits

You can also visit HM Revenue and Customs for information and a claim form for working tax credits.

Jobcentre Plus and new deal for lone parents

Job centres can give you a lot of support as you return to work and there is a team of Lone Parent Advisers at each centre offering extra help for parents bringing up children alone.
