Freedom pass for disabled people

A Freedom Pass allows Brent residents with a substantial and permanent disability to enjoy free public transport within Greater London. 

 

Apply

To apply for a freedom pass, you will need to complete the Adult Freedom Pass application form which will determine your eligibility.

 

If you are aged between 0 and 19 you can apply with a Freedom Pass for children form.

 

A Freedom Pass is also available to all London residents over 60 and this is available from Post Offices rather than the council. Please see the Freedom Pass website for details. 

 

Eligibility
You will have to meet one of the following. You:

 

  • have a physical disability or injury which seriously impairs person's ability to walk, but able to use a bus either alone or with an escort (refer to the assessment criteria in the application form)
  • are profoundly or severely deaf
  • have a learning disability and able to travel by bus safely, either alone or with another person, as well as being in receipt of the lower rate mobility
  • have a component of the disability living allowance, for which proof is required
  • have a disability due to mental health difficulty, but able to use a bus alone or with an escort, as well as being in receipt of the lower rate mobility component of the disability living allowance, for which proof is required (you would normally be referred to the Brent mental health service if this is applicable)
  • are registered blind
  • are without speech
  • have been refused a licence to drive a vehicle under part III of the Road traffic act 1988.

 

We may also need to get medical information about you from your doctor. We will ask for your permission to do this.
