PROCEDURES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

‘NOT IN EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT OR TRAINING' (NEET)

One of the key targets for Connexions is to reduce the number of young people who fall within the NEET category. Specific targets have been set to reduce by 10% the proportion of 16-18 year old young people who are not in education training or employment. This target is set for across the London West Partnership, which includes 5 other boroughs (Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, and Hounslow).

In assisting Connexions to identify, track and work with this particular cohort, it is particularly important that these young people are picked up and referred to the Connexions Service.

All young people who have not already been assigned a Personal Adviser within this category should to be referred to the Brent Connexions centre run by Prospects Careers for inclusion on a central database and the provision/co-ordination of follow-up support as appropriate.
