We have made the online application form and process as easy as possible to follow.
The form is broken down into sections. You must follow the instructions for each of the sections, but you can complete the form section by section if you wish. The form can be saved and you can come back to it whenever it is convenient.
If you start an application, but do not complete the form, you will be sent emails to remind you that the form is still to be submitted.
Completing the application form
For most applications for jobs in Brent, you will be asked to complete most of the form. However, even when you do not have to go into a section of the form, you will need to go into the section to tick the box that says you have completed that section.
Details of the application form sections:
Main details
This section is used to provide your personal and contact details.
Education
Here we will ask you to give details of the secondary schools, colleges and universities you have attended. We need you to give us details of at least one school in this section.
Qualifications
This section is used to ask you to provide details of any qualifications you hold. Please be sure to include details of all relevant qualifications, particularly if they are necessary for the position you are applying for.
Courses
This section gives you the opportunity to tell us about any additional courses you have attended that may be useful in letting us know what you can do and how you might be able to carry out the role. You do not have to include any information in this section
Work history
This section allows you to tell us where you have been employed and to provide any other work experience that you have which might be relevant to the role including asking you to provide details of your responsibilities while working with previous organisations.
Additional information and Further Information
Use these sections of the application form to provide us with information about how you meet the criteria for the position. Be sure to include all of your relevant experience and to provide us with details and examples of how you have met the person spec criteria.
The three information questions available allow you to write 15,000 characters which is somewhere around 2000 words, so you need to be concise and try to make sure that you provide only relevant information.
Application questions
There may not always be questions to answer in this section of the application form. Here we may ask specific questions about particular items of the person specification and how you can show that you meet them.
Equal Opportunities
Brent council employs a diverse workforce and serves a diverse population. We are committed to equality of opportunity in the services we provide and in employment. To allow us to monitor how effective we are at this, we ask all applicants to complete the equal opportunities section of the form.
This information is kept separate from the main part of your application form and is kept in the strictest confidence, it is not seen by the recruiting panel and is used only for monitoring.
Application forms are anonymised and your name is only known to recruiting managers if and when you are invited to interview.
We will also ask you to let us know, if you have declared a disability, if there are any barriers that you would face or adjustments that you would need us to make to help you attending an interview.
Brent operates the 'two ticks' guaranteed interview scheme. Anyone who meets the minimum criteria for a position and has a disability, as defined by the Disability Disrcimination Act (1995) will be invited to interview.
Please ensure that if you have a disability that you would like us to take account of, that you complete the relevant sections of the application form and let us know of any additional needs you have in respect of attending interviews or assessment centres.
Upload a document
It is not necessary to add documents to your online application form, but you may do so if you feel that this will help your application. We ask that you keep any additional information brief and relevant to the application.
If you would like to upload a personal statement, or to add to the information you have given in response to the questions, then you can attach a single document to the application form.
Remember, we do not accept CVs without the details contained on an application form. You will need to visit each section of the application form, answer any mandatory questions and make sure we have enough information to be able to assess your application.
