Government Connects pricing
Government Connect currently has 2 costed components - GC Register and GCSx. There is a sliding scale for annual subscription prices for each authority based on the authority's 2005/6 FSS (Formula Spending Share) which is a static reference point now and into the future to calculate a council’s contribution.
The costs for any authority depend on several factors - the size of the authority, the bandwidth of the GCSx circuit and whether installation is before March 2008. The table below shows an approximate overview of the various cost elements to consider for a GC implementation but see the GC core pricing documents for full details and terms & conditions.
You can see the GC core annual subscription prices for each authority by type of authority, by a sortable list of authorities, or individually from each LA page (see Brent as an example - the GC Costs are near the bottom of the page).
* On 16/10/06 the government announced an extra £10m to support the initial rollout of GC. This will be used to minimise the implementation costs for GCSx by funding the C&W circuit installation and the first year subscription to GCSx up until March 2008 (after which normal costs will apply).
** There is a partnership discount for GC Register (but not GCSx) for authorities which can demonstrate a partnership.
*** GCSx circuit costs depend on the bandwidth required (from 256k to 100Mb). For installation the approximate costs vary between £5k and £83k, for ongoing rental between £6k and £46k and for project management between £1k and £6k. See the GC Core Pricing document for precise details. Only £0 for the first year up until March 2008.
**** GCSx requires an authority to be compliant (or planning for compliance) with the NISCC Code of Connection (CoCo) and this is checked by the annual security audit. The new GSi CoCo v3.2 is now available from the GC Website. The old GSi CoCo is available from the OGC website.
