eGovernment Register

IT Standards and Certification

The IT certification data on the e-Government Register shows those local authorities which have achieved certification by an accredited certification body for either Information Security Management or IT Service Management standards (see below for more details).

See http://www.brent.gov.uk/egr.nsf/webviews/Local+Authorities+with+certification+for+IT+Standards

1. Information Security Management

This relates to ISO 27001 (BS 7799). Achievement of a satisfactory level of compliance with ISO 27001 will be essential for connectivity to secure networks such as N3 or GCSx.

In practice, certification is often achieved for a business process or part of an organisation prior to full compliance across the whole organisation. The scope of the compliance is shown in the Statement of Applicability which accompanies the certificate.
