| ODPM desc: | Email and Internet access provided for all Members and staff that establish a need for it. |
| | | |
| IDeA guidance: | The minimum implication of this outcome is that all councils will need to establish a documented corporate policy for Members and officers detailing the rights of the individual to email and Internet access in the work environment. The sustainability of e-government investment is dependent on cultural change within the workplace as well as without.
Therefore, councils will need an Internet and email policy that will define the criteria for usage. Access should then be granted to any Member or officer who fulfils the requirements of this policy.
Choice of access technologies and security protocols will be up to the individual council but should conform to the appropriate standards. |
