Brent Action for Responsible K9's (BARK) consists of Brent Council's Environmental Health Team, the Mayhew Animal Home, Metropolitan Police, RSPCA and Brent Housing Partnership. It is a forum to tackle the issues surrounding the irresponsible use and mistreatment of dogs. View our BARK leaflet (.pdf, 2188Kb).
The aims of BARK are:
BARK will use appropriate legislation such as the Animal Welfare Act 2006, Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and Dogs Act 1871 where alternative measures do not have an effect. Our main objective is to improve the borough for the good of the residents as well as the dogs.
Ways in which we work:
Monthly patrols: Once a month member's get together to visit areas and/or addresses within the borough where there are dog issues.
Quarterly meetings: Members meet once every 3 months to discuss BARK, its objectives, ways in which we can improve our partnership to better serve residents of the borough and topical issues.
Attendance at borough events: BARK attends such events as the Fryent Countryside Day in September, the Respect Festival in July, Not In My Neighbourhood week in November, Mayhew Animal Home Open Day in July and community meetings.
Visits and talks: Talks can be given by a BARK partner to local schools and college or at local community meetings. If you would like a partner to attend a planned meeting, please contact a partner to arrange this.
