Voting
The voting process is how the general public elects their political representatives at elections held at regular intervals. To vote at an election you first need to be registered.
Who can vote
To be able to register to vote you must be:
- 17 years old or over (please note you will only be allowed to vote when you are 18)
- a United Kingdom, Irish, Commonwealth, British Overseas Territory or European Union Citizen (please see the list of eligible nationalities) resident at a domestic property listed in the borough.

There are currently three ways to vote. You can vote:
- in person at a polling station
- by post
- by proxy (someone that you nominate fills in your ballot paper for you, whether in person or by post).
