Brent Archives is here to help you find out more about the local area and its history.

Our collections

We hold collections related to the London Borough of Brent and its residents and we have an Archives and Museum online catalogue for you to search.

Council records

We hold the records of Brent Council and its predecessors (Wembley and Willesden Borough and District Councils and Local Boards), including council minutes and building plans, as well as historical maps and street directories, electoral registers, school records, and an extensive collection of old photographs and postcards.

Local history

Our local history collections include a large local history library book catalogue, and local newspapers dating back to 1870. We also collect the records of local groups and organisations and have produced brief history documents about areas on Brent.

If you have records you would be interested in donating, please read our collecting policy on the get involved page and contact us.

Family history

We can help with your family or house history, as well as local history research, and offer a wide range of learning resources and support for educational projects.

We also work in partnership with other organisations to help make the material in our collections accessible in new and exciting ways.

Visiting us

Brent Archives is at Willesden Green Library Centre. Access to Brent Archives is free and we will endeavour to assist you in conducting your own research. However, if you are unable to visit or wish us to carry out your research for you, there will be a charge.
