Angle and the Bush Theatre have recently announced the winners of this year's new initiative - Angle at the Bush.
The winners
Repentance by Mediah Ahmed: A prayer-like piece about a Muslim girl and her new boyfriend.
Mediah Ahmed is 29 years old. She lives in North West London, working part time as an Information Support Assistant in a medical and dental library.
Behind the Lines by Neil Daley: It's the scene of a street crime and everyone's got an opinion.
London born, Neil Daley currently works in public finance. Behind the Lines is Daley's first attempt at writing a play.
The two plays will enjoy a run at one of the spaces at the new Bush Theatre as a double bill from 30 January to 11 February 2012, with a press night on 1 February.
A call for play submissions took place mid 2011. The search focused on six boroughs - Harrow, Hounslow, Hillingdon, Ealing, Brent and Shepherd's Bush.
Angle took the call to action to a wide cross section of the public in age, race, and those who were new to the theatre. Each submission was read by a team of readers, who provided each playwright with feedback.
The winners and shortlisted writers were selected by patron of the company, playwright Roy Williams OBE and Artistic Director of Angle and Associate Director of the Bush Charlotte Gwinner, with the other panellists working within the industry.
