A fantastic new Kingsbury Library Plus, a library and customer contact point combined, will open its doors to the public on Monday 14 April at 10am.
The following Saturday sees a day of celebration and an official opening by the Mayor of Brent, Cllr Harshadbhai B Patel. Story telling, balloon modelling, Indian head massage, a cartoonist and a roaming magician will all be part of the fun when Kingsbury Library Plus is officially launched on Saturday 19 April from 11am to 4pm.
There will be activities for all the family throughout the day. The Mayor of Brent will cut the ribbon to open the new shared service at 12.30pm and refreshments will also be provided. Brent Council is encouraging residents to come and try out this great new facility from its open date and also to join in Saturday's fun.
Kingsbury Library Plus combines a 21st century library with self service points for accessing a wide range of council information and a pre-booked only appointment system.
Experienced staff will be on hand to support customers in using the new self service points. In one visit residents will now be able to find out about their council tax or how to get their streetlights repaired whilst borrowing the latest bestseller books and DVDs, using the latest self-service technology.
Kingsbury will be the first library in Brent to offer 100 per cent self service for borrowing and returning books and DVDs; and customers will be able to use touch screen PCs for online council information and free-phones to contact the council's one stop call centre.
