To celebrate the 1908 Marathon and the 1948 Olympics held at Wembley, a unique and fun new website has been launched to help Brent residents become more active.
www.westlondonmarathon.org.uk was created by the West London 2012 Partnership, which Brent is a part of, with funding from the London Development Agency. It will raise the profile of sport and exciting cultural events, whilst helping West London get ready and fit for the London 2012 Games and Paralympic Games.
People of all ages can register the distance they complete in all types of sport and physical activity, from swimming to cycling, walking to jogging and even rowing, either in the gym or on the water and the best news is, unlike the Marathon, the whole 26 miles and 385 yards don't need to be completed in one day - once registered, you can log on as many times as you need to complete 'your marathon challenge'.
The website also allows people to share or challenge groups of friends, work colleagues or family, to see who completes the distance first and links to further information about the 2012 opportunities throughout West London.
