01/08/2008: Win a place in the NIKE Human Race

The world's largest one day running event is coming to Brent on Sunday 31 August 2008, and you could help make history by being one of the million runners in 25 cities worldwide, and one of 30,000 representing Great Britian, by competing in the 10k.

 

Brent will host the London leg of the NIKE Human Race, which will be started by marathon world record holder, Paula Radcliffe from Wembley Stadium.

 

Runners will start from inside the UK's best known sporting venue, Wembley Stadium, following a live music concert, before crossing the finishing line on Olympic Way.

 

With the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games only four years away, residents of Brent can get fit ahead of the Games.  Brent Council has got 100 free places to give away to Brent residents together with free training to prepare you for this unique event.

 

 

Brent Council's sports service will provide special support  with training sessions at three venues around the borough to help prepare you for this unique event.  Sessions will take place as follows:

 

  • Mondays 6.30pm - 7.30pm Willesden Sports Centre/King Edward VII Recreation ground (meet at the cafe in Willesden Sports Centre)
  • Tuesdays 6.30pm - 7.30pm Tokyngton Recreation Ground (Vivian Road entrance)
  • Saturdays 10.30am - 11.30am Roundwood Park cafe
