News Title

The world's largest one day running event is coming to Wembley on Sunday 31 August 2008 with 30,000 runners taking part. The Nike Human Race, which will be started by marathon world record holder, Paula Radcliffe from Wembley Stadium and finishes on Olympic Way. Thirty thousand participants will be divided into four consecutive waves from 7.00pm and 10.30pm.

Road closures
To enable a safe and secure race to take place, various traffic and parking controls are necessary and will be in place from 5.30pm until 11.00pm on Sunday 31 August 2008. The organisers are working with Brent Council's Traffic and Highways team to ensure these restrictions cause minimum disruption to the local community and roads will be reopened as soon as practical after the last runners have raced.  27 advance warning signs will be located around the route.

Parking restrictions
Temporary parking restrictions will also apply in some roads around the route between 4.00pm and midnight on Sunday 31 August 2008.  Some local parking bays may also be suspended.

Brent Council and Nike UK have been working with all the emergency services and would like to reassure residents and local businesses that Fire, Ambulance and Police services will be available as normal to all properties and on roads affected should they be required during the event and the time of the road closures.

Parking and travel arrangements
Participants will be advised to travel to the race via public transport and told clearly not to drive as there are no parking facilities at the event.  As this is a small event mainly taking place outside Wembley Stadium. the Wembley Stadium Protective Parking Scheme restrictions will not be operational on this day.
