Brent residents have the opportunity to help shape new policies on adult social care by commenting on a new government consultation paper which sets out how the sector could be overhauled and transformed in the future.
The consultation paper 'The Case for change: Why England needs a new care and support system' has been published by the Department of Health with contributions from six other government departments in Whitehall.
Brent Council is collecting responses from individuals, voluntary groups and others to present the Department of Health with a co-ordinated response to the document which could help to shape a future green paper on social care.
The consultation paper proposes a new care and support system which will bring together activities and services to promote independence and wellbeing, help people to stay healthy and support a family, and to be treated equally.
The new system would include support and financial assistance through social care, housing support, help for independent living and benefits for older and disabled people.
