Jobs and training for all is the vision of a new employment portal in Wembley, called Wembley Works, opened on Friday 29 August 2008, by Rt Hon Stephen Timms, MP, Minister of State for Employment and Welfare Reform.
Wembley Works is located inside the first completed building within Quintain Estate's prestigious regeneration scheme in Wembley and will provide skills training and job opportunities leading to some of the 6,200 leisure, retail and hospitality jobs that will become available in the Wembley City development as it is built over the next few years.
This unique employment initiative is delivered through an innovative partnership between Brent Council's Brent In2 Work scheme, Quintain Estates & Development plc and the College of North West London with a capital grant from the European Regional Development Fund and matched by Quintain Estates and Development plc.
Wembley Works will focus on identifying the skills needs of local employers and access to local employment opportunities, training and development of those seeking employment and providing access to the estimated 6,200 long term jobs to be created by the regeneration of Wembley.
The project includes a 'one-stop shop' job brokerage unit where local people can quickly access advice and guidance on non-construction jobs and career development and enrol for courses conducted in adjacent classrooms on the site.
