: Older people's day

UK Older People's Day 2008 will be marked across Brent on Wed 1 October.

The annual day, which is held to celebrate the contribution of older people to the community, is supported by voluntary sector groups and Brent Council.

Events on the day in Brent
Age Concern Brent will hold an information fair which will be officially opened by Mayor of Brent Councillor Ralph Fox at Fortunegate Community Hall, 28a Fortunegate Road, Willesden. The event from 10.30am to 3pm will include stalls and advice from providers and groups about services for older people.

Elders' Voice will be holding a coffee morning at Harriet Tubman House, Hazel Road, Kensal Green, from 10.30am-noon. To book a place contact Elders Voice on 020 8968 8170, transport can be provided.

There will be a tea dance at Brent Town Hall in Forty Lane, Wembley, with ballroom dancing music. The event for over 50s is from 1.30pm-4.30pm and costs £3 entrance.
