Wembley National Stadium is one of the most magnificent sporting and entertainment venues in the world. It has truly helped to put Brent on the map.
A massive programme is now underway to rejuvenate the surrounding area and boost the local economy.
We try to ensure that local people, and particularly those with the greatest need, will benefit from this and other regeneration programmes, through jobs, training and access to better facilities.
We know that housing has to be at the top of our agenda as a council. The challenge is to expand the borough in the right areas - ones that will work best for local people; to improve their homes, schools, parks, health facilities and their quality of life.
We have already secured an additional £50 million of government funds towards building new homes in South Kilburn.
The council will now look at how it can get the best value for the money on building the new homes and community facilities.
The North Circular Road is another great opportunity for regeneration which the council launched in early 2008.
