Message from the Leader of the Council, Cllr Paul Lorber
On behalf of my council colleagues I'd like to send Season's Greetings and best wishes for a peaceful, happy and healthy new year to everyone who lives and works in Brent.
With the worrying economic climate I am sure that 2009 will be a challenging year for us all. I am determined that under my leadership, Brent Council will continue to work hard to provide Brent's residents with value for money services.
In 2009 we will continue our drive for improved efficiency and better local services.
Amongst other things we will:
- continue our campaign to recycle even more
- modernise and improve our schools
- expand services for our young people
- support vulnerable elderly people
- work with the Police and our partners to further reduce crime
- support local people to find work and retain their homes
While I hope that everyone will have an enjoyable Christmas I also hope that you will still support our efforts to recycle and keep active - even during this festive time!
As someone who started recycling at a very young age, while growing up in Czechoslovakia, I am proud of our achievements to increase recycling in Brent to record levels.
I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for the recycling contribution this year and look forward to even greater efforts in 2009.
