Care and Support Unit
The Care and Support Unit comprises of the former Mental Health Housing Team and the Floating Support Team. The key objectives of the new unit are as follows:
- the coordination and allocation of floating support and accommodation based placements into all services funded by the London Borough of Brent Supporting People Team
- Floating Support to Homeless Families or those with identified needs including tenancy sustainment matters. This service is funded and regulated by Supporting People
- Acting in an advisory capacity to the Housing Resource Centre (HRC) offering assistance and advice in relation to applicants on the Council's housing list, where there are mental health issues.
- The Unit is well represented in a number of policy making and strategic planning forums aimed at the delivery and development of Mental Health Services within the Borough
Referral Sources:
- all application for floating support services and accommodation based support should be referred to the START Plus Team which is the single access point as designated by the Supporting People Team

- the Housing Resource Centre (HRC) is our main internal customer. The Care and Support Unit acts as an intermediary between Brent Mental Health Services and HRC to promote wellbeing of applicants living with Mental Health in a number of ways
