Libraries performance

 

Achievements during 2008

 

  • Now meeting five of the Public Library Service Standards.
  • 5th in London for National Indicator 9, which is the percentage of adults who say they have used a public library service in the last 12 months.
  • Overall 80 per cent of users are satisfied with the service we provide.
  • Over 4,600 children participated in the Summer Reading Challenge.
  • 5th in London for the number of new members during the National Year of Reading 2008.
  • Increase in usage of Kingsbury Library Plus since the relocation, including an 82 per cent increase in visits, a 60 per cent increase in issues and over 200 per cent new members joined.
  • The opening of the newly refurbished Neasden Library Plus with BACES. The first month saw an increase of 45 per cent in issues.
  • Extended opening hours resulting in 12 hours a week across all libraries with 3 libraries now open 7 days a week.
  • Three very successful over 50s group - social mornings with guest speakers and book group.
  • A range of reading groups including Tamil and Gujarati, supplying reading group books to outreach and private groups.
  • Brent Libraries part of London wide project, encouraging homeless people to enjoy reading and using the library in partnership with Brent Homeless User Group and Cricklewood Homeless Concern.
