Today (Monday 8 April 2024) the council’s cabinet agreed a new Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) strategy, marking a significant step towards tackling inequalities and fostering a more inclusive community.
The comprehensive strategy sets out the council's EDI goals for the next four years (2024 – 2028) and includes a Corporate Anti-Racism Action Plan.
Shaped by feedback and insights from a wide range of residents, the plan will focus on the following three key areas:
- Inclusion: Accessibility and Cohesion
- Narrowing the Gap: Tackling Inequalities
- Establishing an Inclusive Workforce
The strategy will help ensure Brent is a place where people from a diverse range of backgrounds and identities feel welcomed, respected, and valued. It will also actively involve residents in decision-making processes, allowing them to influence the services provided to meet their specific needs.
