The newly refurbished Harlesden Library Plus will open its doors to customers on Monday 8th  March 2010, offering an inspiring range of services and stock in a beautifully designed environment. Harlesden Library Plus is now arranged across 5 levels and will offer residents:

 

  • An excellent selection of books and multimedia displayed on customer friendly, retail style furniture.
  • State of the art self service technology in a fully Wi-Fi enabled building alongside plasma TV screens and listening posts.
  • A Black Identity Zone designed in consultation with a steering group of local residents.
  • A spacious area for children and parents where a love of books and reading can be nurtured.
  • A mezzanine level combining IT facilities and a Teen Zone.
  • 5 BACES classrooms with interactive technology.
  • Customer contact facilities including document handling, interview rooms and self service technology.

 

The official launch will take place on Saturday 13th March 2010 along with a whole day of free fun and entertainment for all ages from 11am to 4pm.  The launch will start at 12.30pm with a performance from the Canopy Gospel Choir and at 1pm the Mayor of Brent will officially open Harlesden Library Plus.  The opening of the Black Identity area will be celebrated by a series of events from 2.30pm onwards.

At the front of the building, the pavement is level and wide, but there are no dropped kerbs or tactile paving.
