Parking enforcement is an integral part of our effort to improve road safety through traffic management and accident remedial measures.
It can be illegal to park vehicles on yellow lines, bus stops, zebra crossings, permit holder bays, pay and display bays, verges and the pavement. Please report illegally parked cars by calling Parking Enforcement on 020 8937 4995.
We are responsible for enforcing parking restriction in the borough. This includes issuing parking tickets and removal of illegally parked vehicles. We employ independent organisations to carry out these duties on our behalf.
Brent Council does not clamp vehicles.
Penalty notices
On 1 July 2007 changes were made to penalty notices following the introduction of differential parking.
We will give a fifty per cent discount if a penalty charge notice (PCN) is paid before the end of fourteen days. After fourteen days you must pay the full amount. The fourteen days begin with the date of issue of the PCN.
Vehicle Removal
A parking ticket may be issued immediately once the machine, pay and display or voucher time has expired. The law allows a thirty minute 'grace' period before a clamp may be applied or the vehicle removed. However, for vehicles which have three or more PCNs outstanding, a fifteen minute period is allowed. In case of other parking contraventions illegally parked vehicles can be removed immediately.
All removed vehicles are taken to the pound at Pyramid House, and the Police are also informed. If you think your vehicle has been removed contact the Police, or call Pyramid House direct on 020 8937 4990.
The cost of releasing a vehicle from the car pound is £200, plus the relevant PCN fine, plus the storage fee of £40 per day. When you come to collect your car you must bring three pieces of ID including your driver's licence, the vehicle registration document, and a utility bill.
