PRESS RELEASE

Brent Private Housing Forum gives tenants their say

21/11/2008

Brent Private Housing Forum will be meeting on Tuesday, December 2 to give everyone involved in the sector an opportunity to discuss and have their say on important issues.

The forum, which is chaired by Councillor Harshadbhai B Patel, is open to everyone involved in private sector housing including landlords, tenants, and homeowners.

The main items on the agenda for the next meeting, which will be held at Brent Town Hall, include presentations on

  • Locata: the choice-based letting scheme for social housing in Brent
  • The support given to tenants by Brent Council's START Plus scheme
  • Brent Council's work to prevent homelessness in the borough.

Councillor James Allie, Lead Member for Housing and Customer Services, said: "The forum is an excellent opportunity for anyone with an interest in private sector housing in the borough to have their say and find out more about key issues. It is welcome to all to make a contribution, discuss, or just to listen to what is being said."

Residents will have the chance to raise an issue of interest them during the meeting at the soap box slot, and discuss queries with officers at two advice surgery sessions.

The forum will take place at Brent Town Hall, Committee Rooms 1-3 from 6.30-9pm. For more information contact For more information, contact Zsuzsanna Messing on 020 8937 2281 or e-mail zsuzsanna.messing@brent.gov.uk.
