Brent's senior firefighter will be speaking about the importance of fire safety visits in the home at the next Brent Disabled Users' Forum on Tuesday, December 9.

Fire Brigade Borough Commander Sean Bennett will be explaining how Brent Fire Brigade can support people, and he will also offer advice to promote fire safety.

The forum, which is chaired by Councillor Kanta Mistry, will also be hearing from a speaker from Brent Mental Health Service about its support in skills and education.

Councillor Reg Colwill, Lead Member for Adults, Health and Social Care, said:

"The forum aims to ensure that the council is aware of the needs and priorities of disabled people and mental health service users in the borough. It is also there to promote awareness about the services and support open to people in the borough.

"The December meeting will hear from two more interesting speakers and I hope that as many people as possible will be able to attend."

The event will be held from 2-4.30pm at Brent Town Hall, Committee Rooms 1-3, Forty Lane, Wembley. Food and refreshments will be served at 1pm.

1. Brent Disabled Users' Forum was set up in 2005. It meets every two months and is a focal point for disabled people and mental health service users, their carers, advocates, service providers, advisers and Brent Council officers.
