Contract and tender expenditure - new transparency  requirements

The Government's Transparency agenda encourages local authorities to make data openly available to the public. In particular local authorities have been encouraged to publish details of expenditure over £500 including tenders, contracts and actual payments from 1 January 2011.

The council therefore intends to publish all relevant non tender and contract expenditure over £500, and all permitted tender and contract documents for expenditure more than £156,000, from January 2011.

This position will be reviewed in the coming months and consideration will be given to increasing the scope of publication as appropriate.
