Regeneration projects

Brent is the most ethnically diverse borough in the country and hosts one of the largest regeneration projects in London. Five areas in Brent fall into the top 10 per cent most socially and economically deprived in the country.

We have five strategic priorities for the regeneration of these areas focusing on:

  • reducing the gaps between Brent's deprived communities and the rest of London
  • reducing unemployment levels to below the London average
  • increasing income levels
  • promoting the developments at Wembley and retaining wealth within the local economy
  • ensuring a consistently high quality of life for local people.

We run a number of projects to address these issues.

We have a Training and employment advice service.

The South Kilburn area has its own regeneration programme.

Brent Council has been awarded Beacon status twice for its regeneration work - Neighbourhood Renewal in 2002 and Removing Barriers to Work in 2003.
