Wembley Masterplan

In September 2003 Brent Council approved the publication of a Development Framework for the future of the area surrounding the National Stadium. The Framework was produced, in part, to inform the development of a detailed Masterplan which was approved by Brent Executive and published in March 2004. The Masterplan and Development Framework had provided essential guides and aided delivery of a number of exciting developments in Wembley. However, the 2004 Masterplan was in need of updating in order to change its geographical coverage and policy scope. The 2004 Masterplan was less concerned with environmental sustainability and was not informed by the new amended version of the London Plan, it focused primarily on the 'Comprehensive Development Area'. Recent indications from landowners indicated that more up-to-date guidance was required as a matter of urgency.

After public consultation and revisons, Brent's Executive adopted the new Masterplan on 15 June as a Supplementary Planning Document to Brent UDP 2004, to enable it to influence development in Wembley as soon as possible. The Executive also agreed to delegate any minor changes to the final publication draft, which will be published by September 2009, to the Director of Environment and Culture.
