Work has finished on Wembley Arena's £36m refurbishment programme. The refurbished Arena (area W02) hosted its first concert on April 2006.

The former Phoenix Studio was demolished to create a large new public space, Arena Square, where the main entrance of the Arena now faces.

Quintain Stage 1A detailed planning application for the first homes to be built on the former Bingo Hall (area W01) was approved by Brent's Planning Committee on 11 January 2006.

Construction works were completed in September 2008.

The north western part of the Stadium Piazza and the steps (known as the Spanish Steps) have been contructed between the Stadium and Arena Square.

The latest approval covers the development of plot W07 with plans for a 10 screen cinema, shops and residential properties, with an openspace, car and cycle parking on the land bounded by Stadium Way, Royal Route and new Wembley Park Boulevard (site of the former Exhibition Halls).

The "circuit" of the proposed new designer outlet is also proposed on the lower levels of the north and west sides of plot W07, with corresponding parts featured on lower levels of the south east corner of plots W04 and the southern facade of plot W05.

The alterations to York House and the proposed street between W07 and York House have also been approved.
