Free swimming in Brent

As part of the build up to the Olympics in London, we have teamed up with the Department of Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) to offer free swimming during public swimming session times for children aged 16 and under at Vale Farm and Willesden Sports Centres.

 

This exciting opportunity will run from 1 April 2009 until 31 March 2011. This Free Swim brochure  (.pdf, 3614Kb) gives more information on the programme.  The programme also entails lessons for adults aged 60 and over and 16 years and under including girls only swim sessions.   

 

The swim lessons are one day a week for 15 weeks and they begun in September 2009 and will run until March 2010.  The dates and times vary for Vale Farm and Willesden Sports Centres.  Please check the brochure for more details.  All swim lessons are free but with a charge of £5 for some swim courses which are refundable with a free £5 voucher if all sessions are attend.

 

The programme also comprises of other water sports which are outlined below.  Please see brochure (linked above) for details on dates and times.

We already offer free swimming for disabled persons and adults aged 60 and over.

 

During school holidays short week-long crash courses are organised at both Vale Farm and Willesden Sports Centres.  In addition there are plans to organised national pool lifeguard courses in the future for 50 , and women and girls on courses.  Please contact respective centres for more details.

 

To participate in the free swim please follow the guidelines below.

 

For children aged 16 and under (.pdf, 949Kb), please download and fill in the registration form which has to be signed by parent/carer and taken to the centre's reception together with a proof of your age.

  

For adults aged 60 and over  (.pdf, 505Kb), please download and complete the registration form and take to the centre's reception together with a proof of your age.

  

A disabled person needs to present a Brent Council Disabled Registration Card issued by Social Service (Yellow Registration Card) at the centre's reception to be granted permission to swim for free. To obtain a registration card please call 020 8963 0531
