Street cleaning: street recycling and litter bins

On-street recycling

We encourage all our residents to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste.

We have placed on-street newspaper and magazine recycling bins for the public to use.

At the moment these on-street recycling bins are located outside the following tube stations: Wembley Park; Wembley Central; Sudbury Town and North Wembley.

Litter bins

Litter ranges from a single sweet wrapper to a bag full of rubbish. The Environmental Protection Act 1990 states that if a person drops, throws, deposits or leaves anything that causes defacement in a public place they are committing a littering offence.

We will:

  • empty litter bins on major high roads when they are 75 per cent full.

You can help by:

  • putting your old newspapers and magazines in our on-street recycling bins
  • always putting litter which cannot be recycled in a litter bin and not dropping it on the floor
  • calling 020 8937 5050 to report an overflowing, missing or damaged litter bin or to request a new bin.
