What should go in your green bin?

Please ensure that only the items listed below are put into your green organic bin:

Please do not put the following items in your green organic bin:

 

  • household rubbish
  • plastic of any kind, including plastic bottles 
  • soil, stones or rubble
  • vaccum cleaner bags and dust
  • pet faeces or litter
  • disposable nappies
  • waxed or plastcised cardboard
  • cartons
  • manufactured wood, planks or fencing
  • Japanese knotweed.

 

These items do not biodegrade and will contaminate the compost which the material collection is turned into.

Your bin will not be collected if items other than those listed are found in the green organic bin. It will also be removed if you continually put incorrect materials in it.
