CCTV is one of the most powerful tools to be developed during recent years to assist with efforts to combat crime and disorder. We use it to enforce bus lanes, manage events around the National Stadium and to reduce street crime.
We keep an eye on dangerous situations, locate suspects of crime and provide valuable support to the police, emergency services and other organisations. Our CCTV recordings may be needed as evidence for court cases. If this happens a dedicated police officer will examine the images that have been requested by the police.
If you are unfortunate enough to be a victim of a crime in an area where there is CCTV you can ask the police if the incident was caught on camera.

Data protection
Information and images captured by our closed-circuit television service are protected under the Data Protection Act 1998. In special circumstances, we will release them to the Police, solicitors, statutory authorities with powers to prosecute (for example, Trading Standards) and people who appeal against fines for driving in bus lanes. Recorded images are normally erased after 31 days.
