Clinical waste collection
Clinical waste disposal from households includes the safe collection and disposal of items like hypodermic needles, incontinence pads and dialysis waste.
We will:
- provide confidential information, advice and a free service for the collection of clinical waste from households
- provide yellow bags for clinical waste and boxes for sharp items such as needles
- arrange the first collection within five working days of receiving your initial enquiry.
You can help us by:
- requesting this service via your medical practitioner, such as your doctor, district nurse, hospital or clinic. A letter will need to be faxed to 020 8937 5090 supplying details of the patient, name, address, phone number and the type of clinical waste or container to be collected.
A letter from your medical practitioner is required as the NHS is responsible for ensuring that those who self-medicate are adequately trained in the medication process and receive information on how any clinical waste created is treated and stored.
