Home composting


Home composting is an ideal way to divert much of your organic waste from landfill and contribute positively to the environment.

 

Composting helps the environment. Organic waste, such as grass clippings is often dumped in landfill site, where it creates greenhouse gases. The waste is then trapped in the ground, and serves no useful purpose afterwards, slowly rotting into gases and poisonous liquids that can escape into groundwater supplies.

By diverting this waste into composting operations, we stop this from happening. We also create a useful product to put on our farms and gardens.

 

You could order a home composter from us and compost biodegradable waste at home.


You can compost these items:

  • food waste- fruit, vegetables, teabags and egg shells
  • organic garden waste- grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, leaves and dead flowers
  • cardboard- flattened brown boxes, cardboard egg boxes and cereal boxes


We will provide subsided composters to residents for only £5 including delivery.
