We offer a free green organic bin service to many residents. You too can help the environment by supporting this scheme.
We only accept organic waste in the special green wheelie bin provided, called a green organic bin. We also provide a small kitchen caddy for you to keep in your kitchen to collect food scraps and peels.
You can help by not putting any plastic bags or biodegrable bin liners in your green organic bin. Even if plastic bags have a recycling triangle or state that they are biodegrable, do not put them in your green organic bin. These bags do not compost quickly enough during our composting process and plastic bags will contaminate our loads and result in your recycling work being sent to landfill instead of being turned into compost.
You should leave your green organic bin out before 7am on the day of your collection in a place which is easy to see and reach, preferably on the edge of your property.
Please do not put your green organic bin on the public highway as members of the pubic may drop litter in your green organic bin and contaminate your hard recycling work. This could result in your green organic bin not being collected or being removed.
Printing your door number clearly on your green organic bin can help to reduce the chance of your green organic bin going missing.
Any excess waste should be taken to our Reuse and Recycling Centre.
We will empty your green organic bin once every week on the day of collection, provided your leave the green organic bin our before 7am in a visiable and accessible place from the public road, preferably on the edge of your property.
If we miss your collection for some reason, we will:
