Street cleaning: how your streets are graded

Keeping the streets clean and litter-free is vital for a decent quality of life for those of us who live and work in Brent.

Residents, users of the Borough and Brent Council are all responsible for keeping the roads and pavements clean.

You can help by:

  • calling us 020 8937 5050 to report your street if you feel your street is dirty

We measure the cleanliness of Brent's streets using a grading system:

Grade A: no litter or refuse  Grade A street: free from litter
Grade B: predominately free of litter and refuse, except for a few small items. Street B: mainly free from litter
Grade C: widespread distribution of litter and refuse, with minor accumulations Grade C street: street with a fair amount of litter spread across the road
Grade D: heavily littered, with significant accumulations Grade D street: large piles of litter on the street
